It was a little confusing going in because our case was different than most as we didn't have a conviction. My daughter is a minor so that made it all the more stressful. We haven't been in the court system before this so we were unsure of how to navigate what we were suppose to do. We had yet to get the, "discovery packet" and went in to the office to get the initial paperwork done. The lady behind the desk was very rude and argumentative, unbelievably so given the type of business that to take place. She informed me that since we did not have the discovery packet yet we could get in trouble with the judge, I let her know that I think he will understand our situation and reschedule if we are unable to attain the discovery packet in a timely manner before the next court date. She wanted me to know that he may not and it's his decision, again I let her know that I believe he will understand and reschedule a court date. At this point she said, "whatever"! I really couldn't believe her attitude towards us and she was not patient our trying to help us along with this journey but was trying to scare us more. My daughter at this time was visibly upset. When it came to talk about they payment as to which I had made my daughter pay for half, she said we are paying the whole amount it already took her whole first check from her job. This is when the lady behind the counter said, "they had not taken any of her money". My daughter said, "no, you misunderstood I am talking about my mom". The lady wouldn't let it go she wanted to argue. I asked my daughter to sit down and at that point the lady behind the desk said, "did you just tell me to sit down", I told her no my daughter, why would I tell you to sit. I had a questioning look on my face and she ask, "how old are you!!!" I could not believe the lady behind the desk. At that point my daughter started crying thinking she isn't going to be treated fairly and these people will be the ones reporting back to the district attorney. To my astonishment the lady behind the counter stated, "I am not going to do this, I am not going to do this" waving her arms in the air. I was stunned and even more so when we found out her name and she is not just a receptionist but is a Case Manager, Daveda Eisenstein. At that point she went to get the other lady in the office, her name is Joyce, not sure of her last . She was wonderful, she calmed the situation down immediately. She even related to my daughter and her events and stress she must be feeling. Joyce was calm, peaceful, patient, understanding. We had a very good, professional interaction from that point on. We had to make another appointment and prayed we would get to interact with Joyce again, she fit us in due to time constraints and was very professional and patient through out the interview. We really appreciate her. Thank you, Joyce.
